Hey, y’all hey! Welcome to another post from The Providers’ Group! As always, we hope this post reaches you and your family in good spirits. We’ve decided to switch it up a bit and dedicate the first Sunday of the month to our organization. As you know, our goal is to spread knowledge about organ donations and becoming organ donors. However, we have plans in store and we would like to keep you updated with what’s going on with us as well!
As you all know, our goal is to revamp our senior in-home services (We are currently looking to hire a Registered Nurse). Many seniors want to stay in their homes, and sometimes they lack the resources or help they need to provide for themselves. Which is why many have caregivers to help with their basic needs. Furthermore, sometimes seniors just don’t have companionship or family to keep them company. We all know, human interaction is a key to well-being. As we mentioned in one of our earlier posts, our goal is to provide concierge services to seniors including playing games, medication reminders, safety checks, and more. Due to Covid-19, this is under works but definitely be on the lookout for this service from us!
In the future, we would like to tour college campuses and educate young adults on the strong need for organ donors in the African American Community, the importance of taking care of themselves to not only prevent the need of an organ transplant but also to have healthy organs to donate when a recipient in need. Remember, African Americans represent a significant percent on the organ waiting list and one donor can save 8 lives.
In addition to touring and speaking to college students, we would like to partner with local churches to not only educate them on the importance of organ donating but also debunk the myths affiliated with organ donating, being that religion is one of the barriers that prevent African Americans from donating. Debunking myths associated with organ donating is a major key to destroy barriers that prevent African Americans from becoming organ donors. We take on that responsibility of not only debunking those myths but spreading knowledge and awareness as well. We’re in it for the long haul!
Stay tuned for our blog post regarding common myths about organ donation and also our progress as we work towards our future plans! As always, be safe and take care! Come back and visit us next Sunday for a new post!
